Committees

Advocacy and public engagement:

Advocacy:

  • Analyze general policies affecting refugees, respond to and recommend actions
  • Public workshops raising awareness of refugee crisis especially Syrian crisis
  • Recruitment of supporters, agencies and organizations

Public engagement through:

  • Giving workshops about sponsoring process
  • Creating of groups of 5
  • Completing existing groups of 5
  • Helping in establishing settlement plan
  • Developing media engagement, social media

Volunteer engagement committee:

  • Recruit volunteers in general and those who have needed skills(computer, language, finance and communication)
  • Help in establishing settlement plan
  • Fill out forms , edit
  • Assigned teams: Transportation orientation, registration
  • Assigned teams: Help in navigating the system
  • Build Volunteer Database
  • Connect volunteers and resources
  • Connect volunteers with other organization supporting refugees

Finance Committee:

  • Fundraising events
  • Create a trust fund and recruit trustees
  • Oversee the funds: Sponsorships, communication and operational funds
  • Apply for grants
  • Logistics and establishment fund: office, phones

Refugee Selection Committee:

  • Receive / accept nominated files
  • Check files( accuracy, credibility) and rank them according to need
  • Recommend files according to priority or urgency

Settlement committee:

  • Responsible for housing, furniture
  • Welcome, transport refugees from airport to their residence
  • Connect refugees with settlement agencies
  • Help in orientation( interpreting and accompaniment)
  • Registration at school, ESL, IDs and health appointments
